Embracing Change for both you and your pets

When you experience change, so too does your pet. They feel your emotional state and mindset. They can visually see you are in distress. This is why your pet can be your number one champion during challenging times of change. They are there to cuddle with you and show you how much they care. Your pets want you to be happy as much as you do. They want you to have all your dreams come true, because when your dreams come true you smile and laugh more. Believe it or not, this is music to their ears. But you must be willing to accept this love from them.

  1. Spend More Time with Your Pet: Science has proven that spending time with your pet can help you calm your nerves and alleviate illnesses that can be brought on by stress. Spending time with your pet is good for both your mental and physical health.

  2. Stay Present: Put your emotions aside and allow your pets to be your calming light. Be present with them by putting the phone down and focusing fully on them.

  3. Show Your Appreciation: Give them a treat for helping you feel better and more centered.

I realize that you can’t always stay calm or be present, but you can certainly try. Not just for yourself but for your pet as well. Here are a few ways to help you be present and put yourself into a clam state.

  1. Bath Time: Take a long bath with your favorite soothing music to melt the day away.

  2. Breathe: Take a few minutes to close your eyes and breathe. Start with three deep breaths and allow your mind to go completely blank. And animals want to cozy right up when you do calming breathwork.

  3. Go For a Walk: Sometimes the best way to get rid of stress is to get outside and walk. Even cats can enjoy being outside in their “territory” with you close by! Weather not cooperating? Go to your local mall with your dog and simply take laps.

Now you will be ready to be present, calm, and centered on yourself and your pet. Before you spend time with them be sure to turn off the TV and put your phone away. You can’t be present with distractions present. Show your pet how much you appreciate their cuddles, purrs, tail wagging, and those faces. How can you not love those faces. Soak up the puppy, kitty, and horsy love. Now you can face the world. Bring on the changes, you are ready.

Here's to spending more time with your pet.
